Orthodontics is the art of straightening teeth and moving them to their correct position. More and more adults now have orthodontic treatment because it is never too late in having straight teeth. However, because most adults have had previous dental work done on their teeth (e.g. extractions, fillings, crowns, veneers etc.), their teeth are already in a compromised state. It therefore is more involved in producing a perfect smile. More often than not, the perfect smile in an adult is the product of the work of 3 specialists: restorative dentist, periodontist and orthodontist.

The orthodontist moves teeth to the correct position so that the restorative dentist will have optimal space to do the crowns, implants, veneers or bridges. The periodontist is the specialist in treating gums. It is the pinkness of the gums that will enhance the perfect smile and give it a healthy look.
