John Doran
Oral Surgeon

John Doran is a fully qualified Oral Surgeon with more than 15 years experience in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

He is also a teacher of Oral Surgery at the King's Dental Institute.

His first degree is in Pharmacology (King's College, 1987) which lead on to a year's research in the Pharmaceutical Industry in Switzerland, followed by studying Dentistry. He qualified from Guy's Dental School in 1991 and started his career in Oral (and Maxillofacial) Surgery in a hospital environment. His further qualifications Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow [1999] and Membership in Surgical Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh [2003]). John was placed on the Surgical Dentistry Specialist Register in 2000 and on the Oral Surgery Specialist Register in 2007.

His constant interest in medico-legal matters lead to his Masters in Medical Law (Cardiff, 2002). Additionally, he has training in dental implants and medical/dental acupuncture. John also has had the training and experience in the use of sedation for dentistry/oral surgery.

In addition to the routine oral surgical procedures, his special interests are in dental acupuncture, dental implants, medical informatics and tele-dentistry and forensic dentistry.
